First check whether the sound does not work anywhere or only fails in a particular program, browser or connected device.
Basic checks
- check the volume, the mute setting and any mute key on the keyboard;
- restart the laptop or computer;
- test several programs or videos;
- check whether the program you are using has been muted separately;
- temporarily disconnect any headset, headphones or external audio device.
Check the audio output
Click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select the correct output, for example the built-in speakers, headphones, external speakers, a monitor or a Bluetooth device. Temporarily switch off a Bluetooth headset or speaker when you want to test the built-in speakers.
Monitor, HDMI or DisplayPort
Via HDMI or DisplayPort, Windows may send the sound to the monitor automatically. Not every monitor has built-in speakers. So check the product specifications, the selected output and the monitor volume. Also test without a docking station or monitor. If the monitor has no speakers, select the computer speakers or connect external audio.
No audio device visible
If no audio device is shown at all, a device may have been disabled or a driver may be missing. If other features such as Wi-Fi also stop working after an update or reinstallation, please contact us. Do not install drivers from unknown websites.
When you contact us, quote your order number, model, the selected output, the connected equipment, when the problem started, the steps you have taken and any error messages. Do not open the device and do not have any work carried out by a third party without ReMarkt's prior consent.
