How do I change or remove the default ReMarkt account?

During the Windows installation, ReMarkt creates a default local user account named “ReMarkt” so that you can use the device straight away. This account is not linked to a personal Microsoft account belonging to ReMarkt and does not give ReMarkt any remote access.

Which current password should I enter?

The default ReMarkt account usually has no password. Does Windows ask for the current Windows password when you make a change? Leave this field empty and click Next. If you have already set a password yourself, use that password. You do have to fill in a new password, PIN or Microsoft password. If an empty field is not accepted, please contact us.

Option 1: link your own Microsoft account

Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Your info and choose Sign in with a Microsoft account instead. Sign in, set a PIN if required and restart. Your existing profile, programs and settings are retained.

Option 2: change the name of the local account

Press the Windows key + R, type netplwiz, select ReMarkt and choose Properties. Change the user name and full name, confirm and restart. The C:\Users\Remarkt folder can keep the same name; this does not affect normal use.

Option 3: create a completely new account

Go to Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account. Add a Microsoft account or choose I don't have this person's sign-in information followed by Add a user without a Microsoft account. Make the new main account an administrator via Change account type.

First log in to the new account and check access, administrator rights, programs and files. Make a backup and only then remove the ReMarkt account via Settings > Accounts > Other users > Remove. Removing it deletes the files belonging to that profile.

Do you see personal data belonging to a previous user? Do not use or delete it yourself; instead, contact us immediately. Never remove the only administrator account and do not reinstall Windows without being certain that you will retain access.
