Which processor do I need?
A Central Processing Unit (CPU), or simply the processor, is an important component of a (refurbished) mini PC. In fact, the CPU forms the brain of a computer because it processes and executes instructions. We cannot say exactly which processor you need in your refurbished PC. This depends on your usage. A CPU is built from different cores. The more cores a CPU has, the more tasks it can handle simultaneously. PC processors are made by AMD (Ryzen) and Intel (Core i). Do you only type text on the computer or mainly perform office tasks, including sending emails? Then an Intel i3 core processor generally works fine. More active computer users benefit from an Intel i5 core processor because you can have multiple programs open simultaneously. Some work on mini computers requires heavy programs. In such cases, we recommend an Intel i7 core processor. This is a very fast processor that supports tasks such as video editing and gaming.
Which storage do I need?
Sufficient storage is essential for a mini desktop, whether or not it is refurbished. We refer to this computer component as Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and Solid State Drive (SSD). They store information for longer periods and therefore form the computer's memory. An HDD is a hard drive that can store large amounts of information on a magnetic disk. HDDs have a storage capacity of 500GB to as much as 32TB. These hard drives are ideal as a database, for backups, and for daily use. However, there are some drawbacks. HDDs have moving parts, making them have a characteristic whirring sound when you open large programs, they are quite slow, meaning you have to wait for your programs to open, and they consume a lot of energy. An internal SSD, on the other hand, uses electricity to store information. They are smaller than HDDs and can only store 120GB to 8TB of information. However, SSDs are much faster and use less energy. Because they have no moving parts, they also last much longer. SSDs are ideal if you want your programs to load quickly, want to edit photos and videos, or want to game. This makes them much more expensive than HDDs. We supply our computers as standard with HDD storage. Do you prefer SSD storage? This is certainly possible on request. You can also opt for a combination of HDD and SSD storage. This gives you the option to store a lot of information with fast boot times. At ReMarkt, you also have the choice between different storage options. In principle, 250-500 GB of storage space is more than enough, but for gamers and larger files, more storage is recommended.
Which graphics card do I need?
Every refurbished mini PC has a graphics card, sometimes called a video card. A graphics card processes information and sends a video signal to your monitor. Without a graphics card, you wouldn't be able to work with a desktop. That's why all ReMarkt's refurbished mini PCs have a graphics card suitable for daily use. Often you don't even have to choose which graphics card you need, but if you want to use your PC for gaming or to edit photos and videos, it's advisable to buy a separate graphics card and replace the graphics card in your PC with it. You naturally want smooth images and sharp details. When you look at graphics cards, you often have a choice between AMD, Intel, and Nvidia. If you are new to the world of graphics cards, the names can be confusing. Many numbers and strange combinations of letters such as RX 7700 XTX, RTX 4060, and so on. A handy tip is to look at the number. The higher it is, the newer the graphics card and the higher the performance (and price) will be. The latest graphics cards are built to handle 4k games. If you have a standard monitor, you won't see the full effects of the graphics card. Older generation graphics cards, such as the Nvidia GeForce GT 1030, are a good choice for beginner gamers and creative professionals. Note! You cannot just install a powerful graphics card in a PC. You must ensure that it fits in your motherboard (and also whether it fits in the PC case itself), that your CPU can support the card, and that your PC is powerful enough.
How much RAM do I need?
Information that a program needs on the mini PC is stored via Random Access Memory (RAM). The stored data is accessible in any random order. Exactly how much RAM you need depends entirely on the use of the computer. For a mini desktop that is only used for office work, 8GB of RAM is enough. Do you often use multiple programs simultaneously or do you want to use programs like Photoshop? Then we certainly recommend 16 GB of RAM. Is that still not enough or are you a hard-core gamer? Then go for at least 32GB. This way, your mini computer can handle even the largest open-world games.
